Forward Dominik Simon is recovering from shoulder surgery and will be sidelined for six to seven months, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced Thursday.

He had a torn labrum repaired in his left shoulder during the surgery that took place on April 29, the team said.

Simon, 25, suffered the injury against the San Jose Sharks on Feb. 29.

He has seven goals and 15 assists in 64 games this season.
