    Toss Pakistan Women chose to bowl vs New Zealand Women

    In their final appearance at the 2022 ODI World Cup, hosts New Zealand did not win the toss but got what they wanted anyway when they were put in to bat by Pakistan. New Zealand are in sixth place and have a mathematical chance of making it to the semi-finals but even with a big win, they will need both India and England to lose their final matches by significant margins to advance. On the eve of the match, wicketkeeper Katey Martin appeared resigned to New Zealand’s fate and sent an impassioned message of gratitude to local fans.
    New Zealand made one forced change to their XI. Lea Tahuhu was ruled out of their final league-stage fixture with a hamstring injury, with Rosemary Mair coming in. Captain Sophie Devine had recovered sufficiently from her back injury to lead the side.

    Pakistan are also having their final bow at this tournament after winning their first match in 18 World Cup fixtures last week. They beat West Indies in a shortened fixture in their only victory of the competition so far and lie in eighth position. With no chance of making the knockouts, Pakistan made two changes to the team that lost to England. Muneeba Ali was installed as opener in place of Nahida Khan and Anam Amin was brought into the attack ahead of Aiman Anwer.
