The Headline Pick: Cristiano Ronaldo – Aston Villa (H)
It comes as no surprise to see Ronaldo lighting up the Premier League, with three goals in two appearances so far. Add into the mix his Europa League goal, it’s been a sensational return for the Manchester United striker and a sign of things to come.
Ronaldo has scored more Premier League goals against Aston Villa than any other side, with eight goals and four assists in 12 appearances. Ronaldo has recorded 13 shots in two games this season, which is a league high. Over half of those shots have found the target.
This week Ronaldo is back in front of the fans at Old Trafford against an Aston Villa side who have conceded seven goals this season, including three to Watford and Chelsea on the road. Manchester Untied will provide a stiff test, with Ronaldo poaching.
Manchester United are available to back at 10/11 to beat Aston Villa and score over 2.5 goals this weekend.
The Budget Pick: Michail Antonio – Leeds United (A)
Michail Antonio has suffered a price drop having seen red against Southampton and missing last weekend, but expect him to be back to his best against Leeds United. He has eight attacking returns this season, more than any other player and should pick up where he left off.
Antonio has 18 shots this season and still sits top for big chances (6) in his opening games. There’s a chance he remains on penalties, despite missing one back in Gameweek 1. Leeds United have conceded more shots on target (26) than any other side in the Premier League.
The VAR Pick: Mo Salah – Brentford (A)
Mo Salah has to be in the conversation, despite a trickier fixture away at Brentford. He’s delivered in four of five games this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists for his team-mates.
Liverpool have already converted one spot-kick this season, but Brentford haven’t conceded one yet. Brentford have a good defensive record, with just two goals conceded and two clean sheets. Liverpool will provide a much bigger test though.
You can back VAR and bet on Liverpool to score a penalty against Aston Villa at odds of 3/1.
The Sleeper Pick: Ismaila Sarr – Newcastle United (H)
Ismaila Sarr was our VAR pick last week and duly delivered with a huge haul of two goals as Watford romped to victory against Norwich City. Brace yourselves for a similarly spectacular performance against another struggling defence in Newcastle United.
Sarr has had an impressive start to the season and has the potential to provide goals and assists in equal measure, with 13 shots and nine chances created. He is the talisman of this side and is also on penalties, having played every single minute so far this campaign.
Newcastle have conceded nine goals in five games this season, with Norwich City being the only side with a worse defensive record than the Magpies. Sarr grabbed an assist in this fixture in 2019/20, with Watford the 2-1 victors on that day.
The Wildcard Pick: Jamie Vardy – Burnley (H)
Jamie Vardy completes our FPL Gameweek 6 tips with a home game against Burnley. He’s been in great form at the start of this season, scoring three goals in five games, while also picking up an assist. In addition, he’s another penalty taker in our ranks.
Vardy has continued to post some good underlying numbers, with 11 shots in five games this season. Burnley are ranked in the top five for goal attempts this season (44) and have failed to register a single clean sheet to date.
Back Leicester City to score against Burnley at 1/2 in Gameweek 6.
