We’re chasing a third straight winner, and Kev’s picked out a game from the Dutch Eredivisie.
Champs to strut their stuff
Fortuna Sittard v Ajax
Tuesday 21 September, 17:45
We needed late drama in Portugal last night, and we got it in spades. Braga v Tondela was 0-0 in the 81st minute, and 3-1 to the hosts by full time, which landed our bet with room to spare.
We’re using the Sportsbook’s Bet Builder tonight (see offer below), because we’re checking in with all-conquering Ajax ahead of their Eredivisie trip to Fortuna Sittard.
Even by their usual free-scoring standards, Ajax are on a bit of a tear at the moment. They smashed Sporting 5-1 in their opening game of the Champions League group stage, and then they demolished poor old Cambuur 9-0 in the Dutch top flight. Erik ten Hag’s side has taken 13 points from the first five matches.
Former Eintracht Frankfurt and West Ham striker Sebastien Haller is enjoying life in Amsterdam. He became only the second player after Dutch legend Marco van Basten to score four goal on his Champions League debut, and he already has five goals in five Eredivisie games.
So, can Fortuna stem the tide. Erm…probably not. Sjors Ultee’s side has taken just four points from four games, and they have already leaked seven goals. Last season they lost 2-1 at home to Ajax (Haller scored the winner), and they lost 5-2 in the Dutch capital.
If we use the Bet Builder, we can back Ajax to win, Haller to score and Over 2.5 Goals at 1.824/5, and that seems like a fair price to me. If, for whatever reason, Haller doesn’t start, swap him with Dusan Tadic, who has netted three goals in the league already.
